Citrine

Oh Citrine, be still my heart. A beautiful faceted Citrine always looks stunning to me. In a previous blog I talked about heat treated vs natural Citrine. I think both are beautiful. I also own both in my collection. Let's get on with the learning.

Citrine is a form of Quartz crystal. Typically Citrine is yellow but the shade and clarity can vary like all minerals. Most Citrine on the market today is heat treated Amethyst. The treatment mimics what occurs naturally in the Earth it's just given a boost to accelerate the process (keep in mind I'm not a Geologist). Natural Citrine is a softer shade of yellow between orange and green. Heat treated Citrine many times is a darker orange color. At times the stone may look burnt.
